This Year I Am Breaking My Rules

I'm not typically a big New Year's Resolution person, but I love the idea of a fresh start. There's something about a crisp new notebook that holds the promise of self-reflection and organization. Wet markers and blank pages are my weakness, and I can't resist the allure of washi tape.

Instead of setting resolutions over the years, I've made it a practice to choose a single word that serves as a quiet intention for myself. You can read about my past choices in a previous blog post.

This year, I'm breaking the rules – in a dramatic way. I've decided to choose not one, but FOUR words! Drastic times call for drastic measures, right? ;)

So, my words for this year are:

  1. Refine

  2. Reduce

  3. Rebuild

  4. Reconnect

Armed with my fresh notebook, favourite markers, and washi tape, I've begun journaling, brainstorming, planning, dreaming, and setting intentions. My practice is gradually evolving to align with these new intentions, and I anticipate that my teaching will follow suit. I invite you to join me in this evolution.

It's not about a "new me" this New Year – it's about a refined version of myself, I hope. What about you? Have you chosen a word for the year? Share in the comments.

P.S. Did you know that the Merriam-Webster word of the year was "Authentic"?
