I Can See The Horizon And It Looks Bright
I can see the horizon again and it looks bright!
I feel like summer is just about to start. I have to shake my head when I look at the calendar and see that we are halfway through August and the "Back To School" commercials have hit the media. But I am happy to have a lighter step and to feel that some weight has been lifted off of my hard shoulders. Our website is almost complete and I am ready to share it with you!
Some of you know that I have been working hard this summer toward launching a new website to best represent how Creating Space Yoga Studio has evolved over the past 5 years. This fall we will celebrate a 5 year anniversary and I marvel most at the community that has developed!
When I first opened this studio, I had no idea how my life would change. I quite literally watched the studio organically grow around me. My intentions at the beginning were to simply teach a few yoga classes. The yoga studio space that we now enjoy was originally my photo studio. I decided to put down a cork floor and while I thought I would continue with my photography business, I would also perhaps teach a few yoga classes per week. The universe had different plans.
My long-time teacher and mentor, Helen Duquette expressed an interest in teaching one class per week at a studio closer to her home. I was thrilled to have Helen come teach beside me. Then I watched it all happen. The students arrived and the studio slowly grew. At a time when yoga studios were opening and closing all over Oakville, I am proud of our staying power. Our community grew slowly and now enjoys a strong and loyal group of yogis. I am most proud of the community that has developed. We have amazing and inspiring people walking through our doors each day. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by the teachers and students.
It was time for the website to reflect the depth and commitment that we have to each other and to the yoga that we practice and teach. It will be an improved way to communicate to our student base about regular and specialty yoga classes, workshops and the amazing Mindfulness Lectures featuring Dr. Stéphane Treyvaud.
So I am finally ready to retreat into the woods and enjoy the rest of the summer. I am travelling to my favourite place on earth to soak in nature and allow it to heal and rejuvenate me from a busy few months. I will be practicing yoga on a dock, sitting in meditation in the woods and enjoying my family's laughter and fun.
While I am away, please let me know what you think of the website. As you can tell, your feedback is very important to me. It is communication that allows us to improve and to better meet others’ needs. I would always love to hear your feedback about the website, the classes and any reactions to my future blog postings.
This is a community. I hope that we can extend our community beyond our walls and reach out and communicate even when we are off our mats. Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in September!
